Veteran Appreciation Night, Kent Island, 3 Sep 10

Veterans Appreciation Night

Updated FINAL Mission statement - times and places have changed!

Registration for this event is closed – you must have signed up with the ride captain by now – you are still invited to support our troops at the game (adults = $6).

There are now TWO rally times!

First - The PGR will escort the bus/vans from the Shore Stop gas station 100 Main St. Stevensville and escort the heroes to the BBQ site (3 mi.) at 1300 – 1315 and later, to the Kent Island High School football stadium at 1840.

Second - The original rally time of 1545 will still be honored to allow for those PGR folks who can’t get to the earlier rally.  Fear not, any late comers will also get to meet the heroes and have some BBQ.

The heroes will share the BBQ with the PGR and friends and the pre-game dinner with the football team.  They will be honored guests at the football game.  The PGR has also been asked to be part in the National Anthem at game start and the half-time ceremonies honoring all veterans.

We have full Maryland LE support for this mission.  The MD State Troopers and Queen Ann's County Sheriff's Dept. have all been contacted.

All riders (front or back seat) and car drivers will receive the following pleasures in appreciation for your support:

  1. Free BBQ & pier fishing prior to the game (the menu = steaks, lobster tails, hot dogs, hamburgers, sides, desserts, etc.)
  2. Free “T” shirt commemorating the event
  3. Free admission to the game (a $6.00 gift)
  4. Free food and beverage during the game at the Hospitality Tent

The Patriot Guard Riders have been asked to participate in escorting and honoring our wounded warriors from Walter Reed Medical Center and all veterans on Friday evening September 3rd 2010.  This event is being put on by the Kent Island High School Football Team and with the help of “Operation Second Chance".  The event will take place on Kent Island, Maryland.  The PGR has been asked to provide escort service for at least one bus-load of wounded warrior heroes (or possibly a van or two) from Walter Reed Medical center.  The PGR will escort the bus/vans from the Short Stop gas station on Route 8 (Eastern side of the Bay Bridge) and escort the heroes to the Kent Island High School football stadium - a distance of about 1/2 mile.

The heroes will share the pre-game dinner with the football team and be honored guests at the football game.  The PGR has also been asked to take part in the National Anthem at game start and the half-time ceremonies honoring all veterans.
We have full Maryland LE support for this mission.  The MD State Troopers and Queen Ann's County Sheriff's Dept. have all been contacted and will support the mission.

Anyone wishing to participate in this event is asked to "sign up" with the ride captain PRIOR to Saturday 27 August so he can tell the sponsors of the event how many people to plan for
