TSgt Lennart (Len) Peter Swanson, 82, USAF (Ret), Vietnam Vet, LEO (USCP Ret), White Plains, MD, 16/17 May 12


The Patriot Guard has been asked to honor and show our respect for TSG Lennart Swanson of La Plata, MD.

TSgt Lennart Swanson was the youngest of 4 and only son of Swedish immigrants.  Born in Philadelphia, PA on January 9, 1930, he enlisted in the US Army in 1947 and served in the WWII peace keeping effort in Germany.  In 1949 he enlisted in the newly formed US Air Force.  He was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ and  Keesler AFB, Biloxi, Mississippi. In 1956 he was stationed in Aviano Air Base in Italy.  Later he was transferred to Andrews Air Force Base (AAFB) and then to Bolling Air Force Base and back to AAFB, where he retired in July 1969.  In 1966 he was stationed at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, near Saigon, RVN.  His MOS was Flight Engineer.
After his retirement from the USAF he became a U.S. Capitol Police Officer.  He worked there until his second retirement in 1995.  After retirement he worked several part time jobs including work for Enterprise Car Rentals and the Grand Hotel.  PGR has been invited to attend his funeral services, and we will be there to honor his family friends and co-workers.
