LCpl Maung P. Htaik, 20, Frederick, 8 Jan

It is with great sorrow that we announce the loss of another Maryland Marine while he was conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.  LCpl Maung P. Htaik (pronounced Mong Ty) was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  Lcpl. Htaik was a 2008 graduate of Smithburg High School.  His family has requested that the Patriot Guard join them in honoring this young hero.

Phase One - Saturday, 08 JAN 11:
We request that a small group arrive early Saturday morning to escort from the funeral home to the Lynfield Complex where the visitation and services will be held.
Rally Time: 0815 hrs
Rally Location:     Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A.    MAP

Frederick, MD 21702
KSU: 0845 hrs for Escort to the Lynfield Event Complex.
After the escort we will reform for the Visitation Flag Line at 10:30am.  This is a visitation/funeral service at the Lynfield Event Complex that will last several hours.  For those within close proximity to Frederick, we are really counting on you! 

Phase 2 - Saturday, 08 JAN 11
Rally Time: 0900-0915 hrs

Brief: 0915 hrs
Flagline: 0925 hrs: We will form a flagline during visitation and funeral services that are scheduled  to begin at 1000 hrs.
Following the services, we will escort back to the funeral home for future interment at ANC.

The weather for Saturday is expected to be in the mid 30s with a chance of snow showers so please dress accordingly (lots of layers).
Bikes and cages are both welcome, but with the weather forecast for “wintery mix”, cages are preferred for safety reasons.
Please bring 3x5 flags and bottled water.
