USNA FFSC Fun Day, 21 Aug

21St Annual Annapolis FFSC Fun Day, 21 Aug

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to set up a booth at the annual Fun Day at the USNA.  We have supported this event three of the last four years.  This is a fun event put on by the Fleet and Family Support Center as well as the Area Commands.

Over the years Fun Day has become an event that is much anticipated by Annapolis Navy and Marine Corps personnel, single and married, and their families. It offers a wide variety of activities and events that provide information, prizes, and most important of all, lots of fun.

Fun Day provides a warm welcome to the many families that have had a summer move to Annapolis prior to the beginning of the Naval Academy’s academic year; brings Summer to a close for children heading back to school; increases awareness of the many military agencies here to serve them; and educates everyone on the services available through the FFSC. Fun Day also provides Area Commands an opportunity to play a role in enriching their families’ Quality of Life. The FFSC works diligently to promote personal readiness, healthy families and a strong community, and Fun Day is an important part of that effort.

Fun Day has games, education, display booths, and entertainment. Enjoy the terrific music of the USNA’s Commandant’s Commode. There is face-painting, games and prizes at the Wheel of Fortune, Bean Bag Toss, and Duck Pond for these military kids. Their parents can learn about services available to them and their families by visiting the Tricare, Navy Federal Credit Union, Navy Exchange, and other booths. While the parents are gathering information, kids can compete in the Egg Toss, Sack Race, or other competitive events. This is not a complete list, but just a sampling of all that Fun Day will provide.

As PGR, we have taken advantage in the past to use this function to thank these troops and their families for the service and sacrifices that are part of being military.  We park the bikes out in the field around the booth we have.  Show off our shiny chrome and let the kids have their pictures taken on them.  PGR have also been spotted in line at the Chief's booth buying up the LOADED nachos!  It is a great time to relax and see our troops and families at ease.
