Operation Hope/WRAMC Wounded Warrior Event, Kent Island, MD., 15 May

National Mission Thread

The Patriot Guard Riders have been asked to participate in "Operation Hope on the Chesapeake" events on Saturday, 15 May 2010.  This event is being put on by "Operation Second Chance".  The events will take place on Kent Island, Maryland.  The PGR has been asked to provide escort service for at least one bus-load of wounded warrior heroes from Walter Reed Medical center.  The PGR will escort the bus at the Western side of the Bay Bridge and escort the heroes to the Kentmore Marina on Kent Island.  A distance of about 6 miles.

The heroes will go on a Chesapeake Bay fishing trip for about six hours.  At that time the PGR is asked to again provide bus escort to the barbecue/party location.  A distance of about four miles.  The party is expected to last about four hours - then, the PGR would escort the bus back across the Bay Bridge.

At the end of the first escort duties in the morning, we are making arrangement for all riders to have breakfast at a local restaurant. (Details to follow later on mission thread updates).  We may also add a 'fun ride' showcasing the Kent Island views during the time the heroes are fishing and before the second escort duties.  We may also go to the party area and help set up for the party.  (More to follow on this - follow the mission thread to keep up to date.

The PGR has been invited to participate in the barbecue and party by assisting and meeting with the heroes.  The party is being hosted/supported by several major and local businesses.

We have full Maryland LE support for this mission.  The Bay Bridge Police, MD State Troopers and Queen Ann's County Sheriff's Dept. have all been contacted and will support the mission.  The local Fire Departments have also been contacted and they will be displaying their very large flags from their 'hook and ladder' trucks.

Anyone wishing to participate in this event is asked to "sign up" with the ride captain so he can tell the breakfast restaurant and barbecue event supporters how many people to plan for.
