Fallen PGR

Robert 'SliderBob' Bell, USN Vet, Past PGR SC

Robert Paul Bell

18 March 1959 - 15 October 2009.

Profoundly sad news this morning. SliderBob Bell passed away Thursday, Oct 15, 2009.

SliderBob was the Maryland State Captain from Jan 2006 until Aug 2006. Due to the war in Iraq this was one of the busiest times for the Patriot Guard Riders. SliderBob was everywhere. He sacrificied his health and his well-being for the mission. In the short span of 6 months he managed to blow through not only all his accumulated leave, but also future leave he had not earned yet. With the PGR being such a young organization here in the Old Line State, it was a tremendous job to get everyone moving in the right direction. SliderBob was the right man for the job as he was a good motivator. The success of the Maryland PGR to date can be directly attributed to the tireless efforts of SliderBob Bell. He helped establish many of the policies and procedures still in place today.

He touched many lives. He will be missed.
